When visiting Buenos Aires I’d select a hotel through Trip Advisor, as there are lots of good reviews from real visitors: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g312741-a_aid.<AffID>-m10556-r78268-Buenos_Aires_Capital_Federal_District-Hotels.html

If you’d like to take some kind of organized tour be sure and check out what Agora Travel has to offer. And for any kind of custom tour, or for any kind of consulting about Argentina get in touch with Maria O’Connor at http://www.sharingargentina.com

You can get a good feel for the orientation of the city with the map at: http://mapa.buenosaires.gov.ar/sig/index.phtml

Also, consider getting Argentina: The Owner’s Manual an insider’s guide for living or investing in Buenos Aires and Argentina. The peso is still devalued by 3 to 1 with the dollar, but that won’t last forever…

If you’re like me and enjoy poking around the international property market you can check out Buenos Aires real estate at these websites:

From my experience Buenos Aires is plenty safe. Just use common sense. Do not wear flashy watches or jewellery. Put your cameras and gadgets away when not using them. To avoid any kind of problems in the touristy areas, don’t keep your wallet in your back pocket, but do keep some ID on you, you’ll need it to buy things… It’s fine hailing cabs in the street, but know where you’re going. Where two streets intersect is a common way to describe a destination, ie. “9 de Julio y Santa Fe”.

But most importantly… Enjoy the city! It’s a great place to visit… you’ll be pleasantly surprised…
